Motor Control
DRS Technologies
(1) DSP based control system
TechEn developed a DSP based Control System (1) for use with high frequency RF plasma control. In it's final form, the system uses two SHARC DSPs, providing control loop bandwidths over 1 MHz, and using DFT techniques to provide monitoring and SOA control of the power drive stage. The control operates in close proximity to the 5 KW 13 MHz power amplifier, careful electrical design was required to achieve a successful low-noise product design.
Seven Axis motor control
TechEn has developed high-end system prototype for a seven axis d.c. motion controller. This motor control was developed for surgical applications.
Laser Chiller Motor Control
(2) Laser chiller motor control
(2) TechEn developed a new compressor / temperature control for laser chiller unit (right).
Procter and Gamble Company:
TechEn designed and produced prototype oven equipment for P&G’s Jet-Fry market test. This equipment used a sophisticated algorithm to quickly convection cook frozen french-fries in point-of-sale packaging. TechEn has been involved with other confidential projects for P&G.
The Washington Post:
TechEn designed and developed the AccuTalk voice-based control system. This system is used for automated truck dispatching and other automated annunciation applications for office, manufacturing and warehouse use. The system is used during high-peak dispatching of daily newspapers. The system monitors the Post's real-time printing and circulation information generated by their VAX process computers. We provided product concept, hardware, software, custom manufacturing, and system integration between their VAX computer and our AccuTalk.
Optical Filter Corporation:
(3) Automation system for
thin film manufacturing TechEn assisted OFC in the automation of their thin-film manufacturing process (3). The automation system controls the vacuum-chamber pumping, chamber heating, positioning of chamber turrets, material deposition, and glow discharge functions. A custom software package was written by TechEn to read coating "recipes" and control the production process. The coatings are used in military, global telecommunications and other sophisticated applications.
Massachusetts University (DARPA Grant):
TechEn developed electronic hardware, FPGA design, microprocessor firmware and mechanical packaging of a Control Unit/Digital Frame Grabber for the Northeastern University Miniature Low-Power Camera. This unit is designed to support advanced digital imager development for DARPA.
Allen-Bradley Corporation:
TechEn developed a Windows NT software application in C++ to help automate their assembly line. TechEn created a team to develop the concept, and designed, developed and built the initial system.
Haartz Corporation:
(4) Hand-held data entry module
TechEn designed and developed hand-held data entry modules (4) used for quality assurance, and a 24-key monitor for tabulating specific product defects. TechEn was involved in the concept development, hardware design, embedded software, prototypes, and manufacturing.
Mathworks
Techen has developed a functional interface unit for The Mathworks, Inc. The Interface Unit is used internally by The Mathworks for training, marketing demonstrations and sales purposes. TechEn has provided the electronic design, prototype unit, and production units to The Mathworks during the course of this program.
